Stone Roses Experience

Well it’s yet another tribute act up in Orkney this weekend, this time one with the ominous reputation of being one of the best tribute bands around. While it will sadden some to see the club packed out for a tribute act and sparse for acts like the Crimea, I’m trying to see it for what it is: similar to listening to a cd, but accompanied by a stage show. Well, it’s not like there’s anything else to do.

I also find it hilarious that they were forced to change their name from The Complete Stone Roses to The Stone Roses Experience after falling out with their management. It’s almost as if they think they’re a real band!

One last thing, I noticed that there’s no support act, which seems a bit harsh. Since this is bound to draw a crowd it would’ve been good exposure for a local act, as well as justifying the £8 price tag. Maybe they were worried they’d be shown up by actual talent and original material.

I don’t know what to expect but I’ll give it a go.

yeh well i think i’ll go aswell. I’m not too sure which is worse, a tribute band or a cover band? hehe. it’s always funny when tribute bands try and look like the actual band; wear their clothes, hair, use thier guitars, the works, it’s genius. A really good tribute band who played in fusion were ‘The Darkest’, the darkness’ tribute band, they were really really good, and looked exactly like the real deal, the only problem was that they had an extra guitarist, and it was a bit confusing…especially when looking at their clothing, as all of them were obvious copies of the real people, but he just looked lost, and like a mixture of all of them. Quite funny, it’s like on tv when there are ‘professional’ look-a-like celeb’s and you turn it off thinking, what a tosser..well i always see tribute bands and feel the same way.

Maybe Orkney should just have a tribute festival, with cover bands of all the ones that were rumoured to be coming up but didn’t.

This is one tribute band I have been dying to see, i’m a huge fan of the real ‘The Stone Roses’ and with them not being a band anymore, the tribute band is the closest I will get. One thing though, and this is the biggest problem with the ‘big man’ is that it’s over 18s once again. It’s unbelievable, does he even care about his buisness? Honestly, if Whole Lotta Led is over 18s, I may cry.

you do realise that they have nothing to do with the complete stone roses and merly saying that to sell tickets. the complete stone roses have never had a name change and still gigging up and down the country under the name the complete stone roses. they have never been know as anything else. check out www.stoneroses.net for full details on tcsr. dont think the formerly the complete stone roses have a website. says it all really.

No I didn’t know that - shocking for their blurb to be complete lies. They weren’t very good either, so I guess it all makes sense.

James, if that is your name? you slag off the stone roses experience on a shetland music board (www.shetlink.com) under the name sugarspun sis, with the exact same dross you’re spouting on here, almost word for word….now that says it all really doesnt it!!

There’s only one Roses tribute band, and it aint TCSR or Clone Roses I’m sad to say.

It’s great how this commenting business makes everything so much more controversial. I had a look at the discussion on the shetland music forum that ‘detective’ mentioned and a contributor called Marvin seems to have put the matter to rest there:

    User Marvin, on www.shetlink.com:

“The Complete Stone Roses are a ‘name’ which is owned by a production company/person. They have had various bands which have toured under the name “The Complete Stone Roses” i.e. The Complete Stone Roses are not a band as such. The members change all the time.

The guys that were here last weekend all used to play in The Complete Stone Roses at the same time. (Alan can give you details). They were considered to be the ‘best’ Complete Stone Roses. They fell out with the owner of “The Complete Stones Roses” which is why they are touring under a different name.

If you look at the Complete Stone Roses website you won’t find any band members listed (there’s a reason for that)”

why say formerly the complete stone roses when it quite simply isnt tcsr!!! to sell more tickets!! detect that then mr detective. lies lies and more lies!! why shouldnt the people of shetland be told that they are being mislead. anyways mr detective seems not everyone agrees that the experience are the best..as matthias says “they werent very good either” says it all really.
yep i have seen tcsr twice once at the carling academy in glasgow and at getloaded glasgow, i have also seen the clone roses and no i think the 2 of them are better. obviously you dont know your stone roses from your kylie lol. also whos slagging them of just pointing out fact! if you look at www.myspace.com/thecompletes you will find the names of whos in tcsr so dont understand what thats all about.
