Primal Scream Rumour
Published by Matthias July 22nd, 2006 in Side Column.Has anybody heard anything to back up the rumour that was floating a around a couple of weeks ago about Primal Scream coming up? There didn’t seem to be a whole lot to substantiate it, but apparently they had expressed a desire to come up here and were in talks with a certain owner of a certain venue. Anyway, I’m not getting my hopes up as it will likely go the way of previous negotiations that happened for the likes of Franz Ferdinand and the Darkness.
It would be great though, since they are the best band in the entire world. I think they should come and play a good knees-up at the county show. It would fit perfectly with their new thigh-slappin mandolin backed country-ness, and Bobby G could bring his family and they could all judge the livestock.
At their recent shows they’ve been replacing the eponymous ’swastika eyes’ lyric with ‘american eyes’ as an affront to the neo-cons: if they ever make it up here they should play ‘orcadian eyes’ just for kicks.

Yes I have I was told they wanted to play free and that certain manager turned them down, possibly all specultion but I dunno all rumours start somewhere.
They would certaintly pull in a crowd, more than that stupid embrace did. But anyway, orkney seems to have a habit of turning down good bands. Futureheads for example.
They would pull in a few people in my area that is for sure!
Yeh, i heard from my mate at the Orcadian about P.S. but, well there’s no point in saying they’d bring in a crowd, that is obvious, as they are one of the best bands in the UK, or the world. The problem being here is that managers/a certain manager refueses to fund a (good) band to come up here. His reason for this is because not many people use his great night club, because there is nothing appealing about the place anymore, so i guess he thinks it’s too much of a risk to get a good band up here, for example Primal Scream because like usual, no one will show up, leaving him out of pocket. In my opinion, there are too many blues and tribute bands coming up, which no one really wants to see. Maybe the odd one or two, but it sucks that there is not much variety. I’ve also heard that Franz were going to come up, but pulled out, and i heard a rumer that The Darkness were going to play on one of the opening gigs of Fusion, but some country singers lass wouldn’t change the date of her gig, so they also pulled out.
Yeah, a friend who is pretty close with ‘him’ has told me it’s a bullshit rumour.
Oh well in that case…
